The Ball Bearing Turbos has replaced the Journal Bearing turbos in recent times. This is because of the affordability of the ball bearing cartridges which now allows for a very high performance upgrade.
At Precision Turbo Services, our Garrett ball bearing cartridges and turbos have been crafted to meet the standards of high performing turbochargers.
The ball bearing cartridge is a very small sleeve system that carries a group of pointed contact ball bearings that are seated at the end of the main shaft. The Garrett motor sports group began this improvement.
The ball bearing is very much unlike its predecessor, the outdated journal bearing which also carries a thrust bearing.

Reduced oil flow By design, a ball baring turbo is crafted to reduce the oil that is needed for a complete lubrication. A less amount of oil greatly shortens the risk of seal discharge and a more tolerant ball bearing marginal lube conditions, weakening the possibility of turbo failure or complete engine failure.
